Introduction

Over the past thirty years, I have passionately led the Pursuit of Pristine People (1st) Product and Presentation in five major cities throughout the midwest, culminating with the consolidation of the two Chicago centers.

Two of our major emphasis along the way included a sustainable green initiative and the ‘New Image of Thrift”. The green initiative served to turn waste into revenue while deferring tons of metals, plastics and electronics from the local landfill, all in the name of sustainability. The New Image of Thrift proved successful in bringing a dignified department store experience within the circular economy.

Our experiences range from the small-town store in Boone, Iowa to serving as the Project Manager for the reconstruction of a store in Lincoln Park (Chicago), even while consolidating the support functions of the two Chicago centers. Each of our appointment realized significant increases in the moral of our associates, gross revenue generation and net contribution to the mission we supported.

How does that happen? By centralizing operations, properly purposing (or closing) stores that do not contribute to the mission, retooling the stores that show potential and opening new stores in the highest demographic available. Further gains are realized when we turn our garbage into cash through a number of ever changing opportunities in salvage sales and the ever emerging recycle streams. Of course, the credit for any and all success of such initiatives goes to a highly trained and motivated workforce who will raise the brand to new heights if equipped and empowered to do so.

Can you afford it? Yes. According to NARTS, the resale market in 2018 was at $24 billion and they are predicting it will reach $64 billion by 2028. If you respond correctly to the challenge, the second-hand industry will be a large part of a bright future, providing income for your mission, jobs for your community and relief for your local landfill.

How do you start? Invite me in for a look. I understand the ins and outs of small-town dependencies and big town opportunities.
